Good morning friends. Today's post will be short and sweet! Yes I'm still dreaming about my time in Senegal, yes we are definitely going back soon. It's a good thing my husband is Senegalese.Saly, also known as Saly Portudal, is definitely a must visit if you're in Senegal. Located on the "Petite Côte" an hour and a half drive from Dakar, Saly was originally a Portuguese trading post ( hence the name Saly Portudal ).

Nowadays, Saly is a huge touristic town, perfectly close to the sea. There's a ton of gorgeous resorts, hotels, B&B's etc. You'll see beautiful palm trees along the sea, wide sandy beaches, local vendors selling their amazing crafts.

Saly is charming, welcoming and most of all very peaceful. The first time I was in Saly, I was with Jacques my husband, and it was for our honeymoon. Yes, your read that right! We stayed in a luxury hotel ( because it was worth all the $$ ).

We had an amazing time at the hotel and we are planning to go back next time we're in Saly.
So this is not the last post about Saly.

This time around, we decided to book a B&B, and it turned out to be an amazing experience. Our B&B, Casa Louka, was only a 5-minute walk from the sea. Our room was very clean and we had all the amenities we needed for a pleasant stay. In the courtyard of the B&B, is a large swimming pool (the water is at a perfect temperature), a bar, arranged seating areas to relax, eat or read etc. One aspect I absolutely loved about Casa Louka was the design and the wood furniture.

We also had the opportunity to meet the owners: Hans and his wife. Very nice people. His wife, who was in charge of all the design, told us it was important for her to hire local artisans and work with local materials. Our reservation included breakfast which is served at their second property, Casa Louka beach with a surreal view on the beach. Overall, we had a perfect stay and I did not want to leave. Some of you asked to have more details on Casa Louka, so here it is.

You can also easily book a place to stay in Saly via Airbnb.
Just make sure you book ahead of time, especially for the B&Bs, private residences and villas.
